Blue Peter Badge

 

We have lots of fabulous mini Wombles who have been litter picking over the school holiday, so thought I'd remind parents about this...
 
If you are litterpicking with children who are aged 5-15 why not make sure they take a photo and apply for their green Blue Peter badge.
 
Helping clear up their community is a great achievement in itself.
By earning their Green Blue Peter badge they can raise awareness of the importance of litterpicking. For instance, any photos sent in might make it on to the Big Badge wall, they could tell friends or School about earning their Green Blue Peter badge and so inspire others.
For their families their badge gives them free entry to lots of attractions across the UK.

  Brackley Litter Wombles attacking the A43 laybys! We started on the little laybys along the Brackley bypass today.   We laughingly thought we'd be able to do a couple! We started on the one nearest the BP roundabout... They are appalling!!   Today's haul was 36 bags, 69 tizer. Plus hangers, wire, tyres, a lovely pair of silver dance shoes, bags of earth??!!, roof tiles, a Henry Hoover and more. A real Generation Game of assorted detritus. Plenty more to do in just this one layby.   Thank you to Jackie, Trish, David , Gail and Dawn who took part in this full workout. We need to return!

The "magic dog poo tree"

  Good haul this morning by the gang as we tackled the shrubbed and wooded walk as you head out of Brackley from the zip wire park. 15 purple bags and a pile of assorted items. Plus 32 bags from the "magic bag tree"!! The little stream needed wellies to clear it and "the den" needs checking, so something for another day. We were unable to yank out the shopping trolley in the stream so we are seeing if our local council can help.

Good delve

 Although we had a scoot around the Wellington Road area a few or so ago, we had a really hood bush dive this Saturday to get at the grot around that area. We were also joined by a couple of people who were filming a piece about Local Litter Heroes for Northampton Film Festival. 27 bags in total from the zones we checked. This looked impressive for the filming as at the start, that end of Brackley looked quite tidy until you got in a ditch or a bush.   Thank you to today's gang.
