ADOPT A STREET!

CALLING ALL GROUP MEMBERS!!   The Brackley Litter Wombles have been going strong for 6 months now and the amount of litter on our streets is still as bad as ever.    We have over 300 members in our group, everyone needs to play their part every day and not ignore street litter.    So we are launching... ADOPT A STREET!!   We'd like people to adopt their street,or one nearby, and regularly keep it litter free. That way the core womble group can focus on areas that require a team to clear or are harder to tackle.   Comment below which area you have decided to adopt and let's HELP KEEP BRACKLEY TIDY!

WEEKLY WEDNESDAY WOMBLE

Image
8 bags of litter from today's Womble from the hedges along Halse Road.   Jackie, Tamsin and I actually got in the hedges much to the surprise of several passers by.   Thank you to everyone who came along this morning, we got it done before the rain set in.   The tong litter picker was a big hit and, thanks to the Brackley Round Table Beer Fest donation, the group has 8 of those and 6 more bag rings on their way ready for the hedge diving at the leisure centre at the end of the month.

THE WOMBLES ARE COMING BACK!

WEEKLY WEDNESDAY WOMBLE

Image
Three of us still turned up at the zipwire park this morning as it wasn't raining.(We thought it might be)   3 bags and lots of random bits including the classic "trolley in a ditch". Took a double take at the blue item in the photos. Then decided it was part of a dog toy.   "Dangerman" Brian found a very rare item for bushes these days.... a few pages from a top shelf magazine!

WEEKLY WOMBLE AWARDS 9TH OCTOBER

Image
WEEKLY WOMBLE AWARDS   JOINT AWARDS FOR WOMBLE OF THE WEEK AND LUCKY FINDS!!   Go to Les Smith and "Dangerman" Brian.   These lovely gents hauled all sorts of detritus from the hedges on Saturday.  A microwave, all sorts of road sign furniture, were dragging car bonnets up a slope and gathering up all sorts of grot at the bottom of it. Brian found three sharps bins on Wednesday and a tub of oil which spilt down him. Wombles have paid for his cleaning bill.   These gents are hard core wombles and we thank you for being part of the team.

COMMUNITY WOMBLE SATURDAY 7TH OCTOBER

Image
Today's community womble in the area around Sainsbury's and Turweston Road.   20 Wombles, 26 bags and lots of large items including a car bumper, 26 security tags and road signage in hedgerows.   Looks like Uri Geller has visited Brackley as one of our group found a bent spoon!

WEEKLY WOMBLE AWARDS 2ND OCTOBER

WEEKLY WOMBLE AWARDS   WOMBLES OF THE WEEK Go to the guys from Brackley Round Table for their £150 donation and and all our sponsors who donated us money and equipment right from the start. I've found £11.32 in Womble wages so far!     Remember to let us know your binbag count and report any interesting finds. In the style of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daley..... KEEEEEEP WOMBLING!

ROMAN WAY PART 2

Image
We finished off the Roman Estate today. 7 bags of rubbish and some metal items left at the bottom of Nether Close to be collected by our Alan . Looks like someone likes to party in the wooded bit just off the grassy field there. Lots of cans and bottles found, a very manky coat and a pair of pants!

RAIN STOPPED PLAY

Image
4 soggy Wombles as rain stopped play on Wednesday 20th September We still managed to clear our target area in 35 minutes though. All of this minus one bag came from the hedge at the end of Lark Rise by Tesco before you go round the back.     It was all collected by the lovely Alan Garrett . Thank you to Jenni, Janet, Trish and Brian for braving the weather.
